I conduct applied, interdisciplinary research that advances understanding of the mechanisms influencing abundance, distribution, diversity, and productivity of wildlife in forests, and identifies management practices that reduce conflicts between humans and wildlife.

I am also director of the Natural Areas Training Academy (an outreach program that serves natural resource professionals), and co-director of the Conserved Forest Ecosystems: Outreach and Research cooperative (a statewide collaborative among scientists and managers engaged in applied research in forests).
