Graduate Certificate


UF’s online 15-credit Wildlife Forensic Sciences and Conservation certificate builds skills in evidence analysis, wildlife crime, and protection laws.

Wildlife Forensic Sciences and Conservation Graduate Certificate

UF offers a 15-credit Wildlife Forensics Sciences and Conservation graduate certificate program designed to prepare students to be wildlife forensic professionals. Students will learn practical skills involving the handling and interpreting evidence found in illegal wildlife activity, as well as the protocols and record-keeping required for processing evidence. Students will examine domestic and international contemporary issues in wildlife protection and conservation, including current laws, regulations and the organizations tasked with developing and enforcing them.  

The online Wildlife Forensic Sciences and Conservation graduate certificate can be completed entirely online in as little as one year. Upon completion, students will receive a University of Florida Graduate Certificate in Wildlife Forensic Sciences and Conservation. This certificate program is open to qualified local, national, and international students. 

Students are expected to maintain a 3.0 GPA in the program.   

Admission Qualifications 

  • A baccalaureate degree in any subject from an accredited institution (prior coursework in biology, health and/or animal sciences is recommended)  
    OR  
    A DVM or VMD degree from a regionally accredited institution or its international equivalent  
    OR  
    Students currently enrolled in a DVM or VMD degree program from a regionally accredited institution or its international equivalent
  • An upper-division GPA of 2.0 or better.

Wildlife Forensic Sciences and Conservation Graduate Certificate Curriculum

The Graduate Certificate in Wildlife Forensic Sciences and Conservation consists of five courses, each worth three credits. Upon completion, both the courses and the certificate will appear on the student’s official UF transcript.
