Master’s Degree Application

How to Apply for UF’s Online Wildlife Forensic Sciences and Conservation Master’s Program 

Complete these steps to submit your application for the University of Florida’s online master’s degree in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation with a concentration in Wildlife Forensic Sciences and Conservation.

Review Admission Requirements 

Prospective students must meet one of the following academic requirements: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in any subject from an accredited institution with an upper-division GPA of 3.0 or better. Prior coursework in biology, health and/or animal sciences is preferred.
  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinariae Medicinae (VMD) degree from a regionally accredited institution or its international equivalent.
  • Currently enrolled in a DVM or VMD degree program from a regionally accredited institution or its international equivalent.

Collect Application Materials

To prepare to apply, collect the following materials to submit via UF’s graduate application.   

Transcripts

Official transcripts can be sent to UF in two ways: paper transcript received by UF in a sealed envelope or electronic transcripts sent from your institution directly to UF, which can save up to two-weeks response time.

Resume/CV 

Your resume should be current and highlight previous professional and academic experience, as well as achievements and awards. 

Pursuant to Florida Statute, your application requires the inclusion of all post-high school education and employment, as well as information about ongoing international affiliations and research funding. Please be sure this information is included on your curriculum vitae (CV) or resume. 

Three Letters of Recommendation    

Three recommendation letters by academic or professional contacts describing your experience and expertise. 

Statement of Purpose 

This one-page personal statement should address your academic and professional interests and describe how this program fits within your longer-term professional goals.  

International Applicants 

Be prepared to submit test scores or other criteria to meet English proficiency requirements. See full details on these requirements on the Office of Admissions’ International Applicants page.


Submit the Online Application 

Submit your application and materials via UF’s graduate application.   

Getting Started 

Create a username and password to log in and save it to edit your application before submission, if needed. 

Personal Information 

  • Provide all requested Personal Information.
  • International Applicants:
  • Enter your Surname and Given name in the Passport Name section even if you do not have a passport.
  • If you are a permanent resident alien and/or reside in the United States, you must provide your resident alien number and upload a copy of your permanent resident alien card directly to the application. 

Conduct Disclosure 

Accurately answer and report all information in the Conduct Disclosure section. 

Application Information & Master’s Degree Program 

Follow the instructions below to make the correct selections for the degree you are applying for: 

  • In the Location dropdown, select Distance Education.
  • In the Program of Study section, click or search for College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. From the expanded selection, choose Wildlife Ecology and Conservation.
  • Choose the term you are applying for from the dropdown. If you are applying for Summer admission, select Summer A/C.
  • Review your selection in the Program Display area and verify that it is correct before moving to the next application step. If you need to amend your selection, choose Re-Select Program.
  • Fill out the Additional Information section with the following:
    • Under Concentration, choose the dropdown option Wildlife Forensic Sciences and Conservation.
    • Leave the Program Specialization field blank.
    • In the Department Contact Name field, type UF DESC Admissions Team. 

Academic Background 

  • Report your Undergraduate Major.
  • Enter all colleges or universities from which you have received a degree including associates, bachelor’s, master’s, doctorate or professional credentials and the date the credential was earned.
  • Upload your unofficial transcripts for each school, if you have them.
  • Note that your application will not be reviewed for an admission decision until your official transcripts are received. 

Activities 

  • Report past and/or planned activities in this section, including pertinent work experience. 

Test Score Information 

  • The GRE is not required.
  • International applicants who are required to provide English proficiency test scores, should select the test that they have taken or plan to take to meet this requirement. 

Additional Questions (Statement of Purpose & Resume/CV) 

  • A statement of purpose and resume/CV is required.
  • Pursuant to Florida Statute, your application requires inclusion of all post-secondary education and employment, as well as information about ongoing international affiliations and research funding. Please ensure this information is included on your curriculum vitae (CV) or resume. 

Letters of Recommendation 

  • Three recommendation letters by academic or professional contacts describing your experience and expertise. 

Residency Information 

  • Enter your residency information. The residency of our students does not determine tuition cost for our program, but this information is required by the University of Florida.
  • If you are a non-Florida resident, select the appropriate box for your residency.
  • If you are a Florida resident, fully complete the Residency Information section, including the numbers and original issue dates for two of the following three identifying documents: 
    • Driver’s License
    • Vehicle Registration
    • Voter Registration

Documents may be directly uploaded to the application. 

Application Fee 

  • The $30 application fee must be paid when you finish the online application for the application to be submitted.
